The KFC T20 Big Bash League is the Australian domestic Twenty20 cricket tournament. The Big Bash League replaces the previous competition, the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash and features city-based franchises instead of the state teams which had participated previously. The inaugural season began on 16 December 2011.[1] The top two teams will qualify for the Champions League Twenty20 tournament. The Big Bash is a T20 tournament where players come from their states, with many high profile players coming out of retirement to play cricket again. The BBL gives rookie T20 players the chance to perform on the big stage with their more experienced colleagues.
The competition was organised by Cricket Australia, and sponsored by fast food chicken outlet KFC. The competition was replaced by the Big Bash League as Australia's domestic Twenty20 competition after the 2010–11 tournament. The Victorian Bushrangers were the most successful team during the tournament's running, winning the title four times.
The 2011–12 Big Bash League season is the inaugural season of the Big Bash League, the premier Twenty20 cricket competition in Australia. The tournament replaces the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash, which was run every season from 2005–06 to 2010–11.

Brisbane Heat began the campaign with some abject performances that saw them without a win in their opening four games. They produced a blinding performance against the then league leaders Hobart Hurricanes in their match last Friday which will give the side a great deal of confidence for this trip away from home. The Heat’s batsmen were strong with the bat in and should look to replicate that performance on a similar pitch today. Daniel Vettori could excel on this drop-in wicket and his left-arm spin could be the difference between the sides.
